When we left the journey last time we had managed to turn around a patchy run of form and were sitting in 7th place, just 4 points off of the European places. However the league was so compacted that with only 8 games to go we are 19 points above the relegation zone, so not technically safe from relegation just yet.
Lets pick up where we left off, working our way through the last two months of the season.
April 2025
Match 31 - West Brom (A) 2-1
Our March form was decent and we carried this on into April. West Brom were bottom of the league and all but relegated. One of our trademark fast starts secured the points as Vassi and Adam put us 2-0 up inside 25 minutes.
A late Rhys Williams own goal made it a nervy last 5 minutes but we held on.
Match 32 - Arsenal (H) 2-0
Adams park has seen some fantastic results this season and this one goes right up there with the nest of them.
Both the goals were scored in the first half. A deflected Josh Adam effort went down as an own goal and another Vassi goal, his 4th in 4 games saw us over the line.
Match 33 - Aston Villa (A) 1-1
Villa were occupying the spot above us, which was the last european qualification spot. We are currently 4 points behind them having played a game extra so a win was vital.
Verhelst put us 1-0 up on the stroke of half time however we were pegged back in the 70th minute. The game finished 1-1 and all but killed our chances of catching Villa.
Match 34 - Everton (H) 1-1
Back to back 1-1 draws, both of which we lead. Hebert with the goal in the first half. Shows how well this season has gone when we are disappointed with back to back draws.
Match 35 - Manchester City (A) 0-2
Ahhhh Man City, we meet again. After a surprising 1-1 draw earlier on in the season we seem to have angered the Citizens. They ended our FA Cup dreams in a merciless fashion and today we were lucky to walk way only losing 2-0.
Match 36 - Leicester (H) 4-0
An absolute rout of the once Premier League Champions. Leicester were having an uncharacteristic poor season languishing just outside of the relegation zone.
We were 3-0 up at half time after goals from Adam, Verhelst and the returning Jack Clarke. Adam got his second in the second half to complete the scoring.
Match 37 - Sheffield United (A) 2-4
A 6 goal thriller where all the goals came in the second half, 5 of which in 15 minutes gave neutrals across the land the entertainment they watch the Premier League for.
Our goals coming from Hebert and Verhelst.
Match 38 - Watford (H) 3-1
In the final game of the season, with 7th place secured and relegation a distant memory it was nice to end the season with a win.
In his last game for the club, Verhelst got the scoring underway in the 38th minute. Gyabuaa, also in the last game of a loan spell made it 2-0 in the 45th minute.
Josh Adam completed the victory in the 94th minute.
Final League Table
This has been a dream debut season in the Premier League. Not once were we anywhere near a relegation fight.
We caused a few huge upsets too, beating Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal at home were real highlights.
